I got my first three backyard chickens in 2010 when we lived on a small urban lot in Portland. It wasn’t long before three chickens turned into five hens and a rooster, and I began longing for a bigger yard so that I could get more chickens! Within a few years, my husband and I moved to 4.5 acres in St. Helens, which we named 5R Farm after our first five ladies: Rhoda, Raquel, Rosie, Ruby, and Ramona that inspired our move to the country.
